As you have seen in the news, COVID-19, otherwise known as the Coronavirus, has become an international phenomena causing global health concerns.
We want you to know that Antioch Wichita leadership along with our extended Antioch family of churches is monitoring the virus and taking this very seriously. We want our response to be infused with Biblical wisdom, compassion, prayer, and faith in our sovereign and loving God.
We are basing the following information and directives on 2 Timothy 1:7: "For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind." Specifically, we are seeking not to respond in fear but in power, love, and wisdom during this time.
We will continue to stream our services until further notice. We will continue to worship with one another, hear God's Word, and have a time of prayer and response to the Lord's leading. We miss being in the room with you, but we have loved being with you online. We continue to work for a quality and spirit led time in each of our streams. ⠀
To be clear, we are not cancelling church. Our church has never been defined by a building or a service. We love our Sunday worship services where the whole church family can come together, and we look forward to those resuming, but our mission remains the same as we aim to be a church-planting church made up of sons and daughters, who encounter Jesus, practice His ways and build His Kingdom in our city, nation, and nations of the earth.
Additionally, we strongly believe that one of the major ways we are able to contend for peace, healing, and revival is through prayer. We have launched several prayer and worship steams on our YouTube live channel and on Facebook Live. We would love to have you join us!
We continue to stay connected through our website, app, and social media. Our House Churches are still operating through an online experience using ZOOM. We are encouraging everyone to download the ZOOM
app to have video meetings via their phones or computers.
We also want to encourage that discipleship meetings DO continue with the schedules you had prior to the unrest. You can also use the ZOOM app or call one another. Please do not stop pressing into one another.
We want to continue reaching out to our neighbors and looking for ways our church can serve those who are affected by this illness. We need to very aware of the people around us and the needs they might have.
This is also an amazing time to walk in the peace of Jesus and share it with the world. In seasons like this when people walk in fear, it opens doors to share the gospel that weren't available in other times. Be on purpose and live the mission.
Additionally, engaging missionally also means that we are aware of practical ways we can serve one another. In this time, we want to emphasize that one of the best practical ways to serve one another is to follow CDC guidelines to prevent illness.
Also, you can continue to give your tithes and offerings through our online giving portal on our website. Your continued financial support helps our church continue to be salt and light in our city and during this crisis.
If you contract the virus or have economic needs as a result of the virus, please reach out to both your House Church leader and your pastors. We are committed to continuing to support and love our community during this trial in the best, most prudent ways possible. Our food pantry is available for those in need.
The early church demonstrated the love of Christ amid disease and plagues within the Roman empire. Through their sacrificial love demonstrated through trials, persecution, and pestilence, the gospel spread far and wide. May we be gripped with the same vision in our time!
To stay up to date with the latest news of our church, we have created this web page as the central place to do so: www.antiocwichita.org/covid-19
We love you and are praying for you, our city and our nation for the Lord to work mightily in our midst.
In times of global crisis, we as the church want to keep our eyes focused on the Lord. We look toward the future with our hope rooted in Him knowing that He is in control.
